Local Glen Campbell couldn’t make the annual Alzheimer’s Association bash, “A Night at Sardi’s,” at the Beverly Hilton, but he was there in spirit with his wife, Kim, filling in for him and his sturdy cowboy boots.
The event was a salute to “Broadway’s Best” with headliners from the world of stage, television, music and film. The splashy performance included a toe-tapping musical revue. It featured legendary Broadway tunes from “Gypsy,” “Funny Girl,” “Once,” “Matilda” and “Guys and Dolls.”
Even though Glen was not able to attend, the show included a musical tribute from Grammy-winning songwriter Jimmy Webb and performances by Ashley and Shannon Campbell with Keith Carradine and Grace Potter.
The celebrated singer’s family accepted the inaugural Glen Campbell Courage Award for bravely sharing their story publicly and becoming advocates in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Among those in the starry crowd was the cast of the CBS show “The Big Bang Theory,” famed comic Billy Crystal and actor Beau Bridges.
For 22 years “A Night at Sardi’s” has raised funds to support the Alzheimer’s Association and its efforts to eliminate the disease through the advancement of research. It also provides enhanced care and support to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Easter Sunday got off to a good start at the Hallmark Channel as the network kicked off its new series “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” The production comes courtesy of Martha Williamson. The Executive Producer also made a hit out of the long running show “Touched by an Angel” and made Malibu’s Roma Downey a household name.
The new show was made even more special with the appearance of super survivor Valerie Harper. The “Rhoda” star shines in her cameo appearance and is an inspiration to all. She’s had her own angelic moment after being told early last year that she had just three months to live. She handled her terminal cancer diagnosis with grace and dignity. But she defied the odds and is still alive and kicking, even putting in a good turn or two as a contestant on last season’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Even after the dance competition, she has made numerous television appearances and considers herself one lucky lady. In addition to her optimism she has said that the journey has given her a message that she can share with all … that you shouldn’t give up on life worrying about your death.
The uplifting family-friendly show airs on Sundays, with Valerie featured one more time as Theresa, a quirky supervisor involved with a top-notch team of lost-mail detectives. She has a long-standing relationship with Martha Williamson, which goes back to her first appearance on “Touched by an Angel.” So get inspired, tune in and enjoy.
