Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to spell out his party’s stance on an alliance and formation of government in Telangana during his meeting with party’s Assembly and Lok Sabha candidates besides senior party leaders at Telangana Bhavan on Friday. This will be Mr Rao’s first interaction with the party candidates after the polls in Telangana.
Mr Rao is in an upbeat mood and is confident of the TRS winning with a majority and forming the first government in Telangana, and a party leader said that Friday’s session would be a pep talk and a list of dos and don’ts. The TRS chief will also most probably ask the candidates and party leaders to be alert during the counting of votes in their respective constituencies. “The party chief is likely to share his thoughts about the road ahead,” said K. Keshava Rao, the TRS secretary general.
Sources in the TRS said that TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah has been in touch with the TRS leaders and has reportedly spoken to Dr Keshav Rao regarding forging an alliance in case there is a shortfall in numbers. “A TRS-Congress-MIM alliance cannot be ruled out,” he said. According to another leader, Mr Rao will also spell out the party’s stance on alliance with like-minded parties in case the TRS misses the magic figure to form the government. “We are confident of forming the government on our own. But we have kept all options open,” he said.
