The Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre (PSLC) was recently awarded a Sports Capital Grant from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, and has now a plan in place to use the grant

The grant is for the upgrading of their all-weather facilities and other works at the tennis courts adjoining the PSLC at Carrickhill in Portmarnock. The works will include the provision of three new all-weather pitches, each measuring 26m by 40m and the upgrading of existing tennis court surfaces. Lighting columns will also be installed as part of the project along with a 2.4m high fence with netting.

At a recent County Council meeting, many local councillors expressed their support about this, including Eoghan O’Brien (FF) who said there was a lot of support locally for the upgrade of facilities at the PSLC.

Senior Council official, Stephen Peppard praised the club for their role in securing the grant for the work and said the new pitches would be a revenue generator for the club and would help secure the future of the PSLC.
