The Gadsden Museum of Art and History will have an opening reception and awards recognition from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday for the 2014 Photography Exhibit that is now on display.
The exhibit drew 126 entries from more than 40 photographers, and will be on display through June 23.
The number of entries is down from last year, but the museum reduced the number of entries each photographer could enter because of display space limitations.
The 2014 exhibit has three divisions, adult, youth and professional, and categories include animal/wildlife, altered images, black and white, botanical/flora, landscape/cityscape and people/portraits. Each division is judged separately.
First-, second- and third-place ribbons and prizes will be awarded in each adult amateur division. Youth prizes will be awarded in high school, middle school and elementary school classification.
The judge of the exhibit is Eddie Sewell, president of the Huntsville Photographic Society. He will give a brief gallery talk during the opening reception.
The museum’s next exhibit will be the Gadsden Art Association Juried Art Show.
Contact the museum at 256-546-7365 for more information. There is no charge for admission, but a donation is recommended.
Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
