JACKSONVILLE, TEXAS (KETK) — It’s rodeo time in East Texas. Organizers tell us, rain or shine, the show will go on.
Tops in Texas Rodeo has been in Jacksonville for 52 years. East Texas will be your East Texas rodeo headquarters on Thursday 15-17 in Jacksonville and Lindale.
Jacksonville Rodeo Association members tell us, the cream of the crop is headed to their arena.
There will be several events for the next thee days. “Bareback , Saddleback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping and team roping, we’ll have calf scramble for the youngsters,” said Charles Dickerson, Vice President of the Jacksonville Rodeo Association.
There will also be a queens contest on Saturday. “We have a special rodeo on Saturday morning for the handicap children,” said Dickerson. He adds, “Let me tell you some good news all the tickets are free except for the box seats,” said Dickerson.
We’re told the Trails to Christ Cowboy Church bought those tickets as a treat for East Texans, and on the other side of town Lindale Rodeo Arena opens its gates Thursday. “Family fun entertainment all night night with barrel racing and bull riding just the whole gammet of rodeo action,” said Shelbie Glover, Lindale Chamber of Commerce.
They have cowboys coming in town from seven states. “Come out and enjoy the 27th Annual I20 Real Estate Lindale Championship Rodeo in Lindale Texas, the home of good country living.” It’s double the fun for the next three days.
Organizers from Jacksonville and Lindale want to thank east Texans for all the years of contributing to the rodeo. It has blessed East Texas and they look forward to many years to come.
