The Liberty Bell High School varsity softball team split games between the top-floor team in the North Central Washington B league and the basement dweller, in a 17-1 loss to Pateros and 18-3 win over Manson last week.
The Lady Lions were unable to find the handle to crank a win out of visiting Pateros on May 6, and fell to the 11-0 1B powerhouse Nannies, 17-1.
Lauren Ochoa scored the only run for the Lady Lions in the second inning off a single by junior Carly McMeans.
Liberty Bell made up for the Pateros loss with an 18-3 win over winless Manson on May 8.
Veteran lefty Kelsey Baldwin held 0-10 Manson hitless en route to the win. Liberty Bell found most of its runs resulting from walks.
Baldwin struck out nine batters to match some solid hitting from the Lady Lions’ dugout, including a base clearing home run by catcher Baylee Canedo.
The Lady Lions were scheduled to host Oroville in a league contest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday (May 13). Manson will be in town for more league play at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday (May 14). Liberty Bell will travel to Lake Roosevelt Saturday (May 17) for a regular season-ending doubleheader.
