Heart Music and the Wave of the Future

We’ve all been there haven’t we? Jogging or walking along, pumped up. We’re feeling powerful and good and we’ve got music pounding in our ears, urging us on, forcing us to push just that little bit harder. Then, because the law of sod applies to all things, the slowest, drippiest pieces of music on our player will start. Yes we can select a new track, but that means fishing out our player and fiddling around with it to find it and by then, that pumped up drive to keep going has faded away completely.

It’s a bit of a first world problem but it can really be frustrating. An American graduate may have solved this issue once and for all! That’s right, he’s come up with a system which monitors our heart rate and selects songs based on that. It’ll decide what we’re doing, running, walking or even driving and then pick music based on that.
How does it do this? It uses a special pair of headphones which monitor our heart-rate by using a tiny microphone which sits in the ear and listens to our blood flow. This information is then transmitted via the headphones to a smartphone which works out which music is best to play for our current level of exercise.

The great thing about this is that, though it’s still in development at the moment, it’ll be readily available soon and for a relatively small amount of money. The man behind it is estimating a cost of around $20 for the specialist headset which isn’t too bad at all! Keep your eyes peeled for the Heart Music App and let us know if it helps your out with your workout at all, who knows the difference the right song at the right time could make. Eye of the Tiger, anyone?
