AN introduction to meditation session will be held at the CWA rooms on June 4. Everyone is welcome to attend at just a gold coin donation.
Session facilitator Jayanti said meditation has a wealth of benefits for those who choose to practice it.
Meditation for as little as 15 minutes a day can help to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, tiredness, chronic pain and sleep problems. It can improve concentration and mood, lower blood pressure and boost the immune system
“Mindfulness strategies help to manage unhelpful thoughts and beliefs and replace them with more affirming ones; stilling the mind, greater peach and equilibrium and less anxiety; overcoming issues of low self worth and not belonging,” Jayanti said.
Jayanti has spent over 30 years as a psychologist, running her own consultancy business in North Sydney before relocating to the Southern Highlands. She now works in her own practice as a community psychologist in Bowral, specialising in relationship issues, depression, anxiety and assisting people to become more empowered.
She also works as a teacher within the Southern Highlands Harmony Centre running meditations, seminars and teaching energy healing.
The Harmony Centre has been running one hour meditations in Goulburn for the past two and a half years. These meditations are offered by donation so that all are able to participate and benefit.
A musician will accompany Jayanti as part of the beginners session on June 4, to provide live music as part of the meditation.
The session will take place at the CWA Rooms in Montague St from 6 til 7:30pm on Wednesday June 4.
