Year 6 Young Public School student Harry Fitzpatrick is gearing himself up this month to play for the open Riverina Rugby League team.
The avid junior rugby league player – who has also been selected in Group 9’s Under 12s Northern representative side – will head to Kingscliff on the NSW-Queensland border to compete against other regions in the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) competition.
The 11-year-old was among 17 players selected for the squad from four trial games recently conducted at Leeton.
It’s not Harry’s first time playing for the side, having been selected last year.
“It’s good because I love the game,” he said.
“I love everything about it.”
Harry said his favourite moments during a game of league is scoring tries and tackling.
Something which he hopes he’ll be doing plenty of in the coming weeks.
Last month Harry participated in a number of training days in Leeton, preparing him for the June competition.
His teammates include players from Wagga, Gundagai, Tumut, Griffith and Leeton.
