Using liquorice as a herbal remedy:
Liquorice is one of the best known herbal treatments for stomach ulcers. For ulcers caused by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori – a combination of liquorice, vitamin C and Manuka honey can be very successful. Try liquorice root infusion (1 teaspoon dried root per ¼ litre hot water), followed by 3,000-10,000 mg of vitamin C and a tablespoon of Manuka honey. The dose can be repeated up to four times a day. Try this for up to two months before resorting to pharmaceutical antibiotics – it’s likely you won’t need to!

A special blend favoured by naturopaths is two parts liquorice, one part marshmallow root and 1 part chamomile flower. This can be taken in the form of a tincture, but a herbal infusion may be less of a shock for your stomach!
Diet:
Certain foods can assist you in relieving the pain of a stomach ulcer. Potatoes, oatmeal and cabbage have all been said to have a soothing effect. Cabbage juice contains high amounts of a chemical called glutamine, which may stimulate the stomach to protect itself better. To achieve this, you would need to drink about four cups of cabbage juice a day.
