Attorney David Sherman, son of Chancellor family attorney Mitchell Sherman, is returning to “The Young and the Restless.” Robert Gant will reprise the role and this has fueled speculation that Michael Muheny will return as Adam Newman.

The news that Robert Gant would resume his role as David Sherman came on Friday, June 13 and immediately speculation began as to why another attorney was needed in Genoa City. There are several story lines that involve complicated legal issues, including the possibility that Sharon Newman will need legal representation when it is revealed that she changed Summer Newman’s paternity results and had a hand in the accident that put Phyllis Newman in a coma last year.

Another character that may find the need for legal representation is Cassie look-a-like Mariah. She may find herself facing charges surrounding her impersonation of Nick and Sharon’s dead daughter. There is also speculation that Ben may need legal representation when it comes to the paternity of Victoria’s baby.

But the biggest rumor surrounding the return of David Sherman is that Michael Muhney is coming back as Adam Newman. When last fans saw Adam he had confessed to being the hit-and-run driver who killed Deliah Abbott.

It does look as if Summer Newman is going to leave town with Austin, even though he held her aunt at gunpoint. Rumors have been circulating for weeks that “The Young and the Restless” will recast the role of Summer Newman. Is Hunter King on her way out and is Michael Muhney on his way back to “The Young and the Restless”?

There could be many other reasons why another attorney is being added to the cast of characters. Victor Newman may find himself in the middle of several legal messes and the other attorneys, Avery, Leslie and Michael, may end up on the other side of the courtroom facing off against Victor Newman rather than on his side this time.
