SPRING VALLEY – Village police are searching for a man who roughed up a jewelry store clerk Friday before stealing merchandise and cash.
“We have what we believe is a black male entering the business and strong-arming a female employee,” Spring Valley Police Detective Sgt. James Noble said. “He then went behind the counter and took an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry.”
The robbery, at Polo Jewelry, 180 Route 59, occurred about 11 a.m., police said. The female employee was said to have been injured during the incident, but refused medical attention.
Many details of the robbery remained uncertain Friday, but police believe the suspect acted alone.
“Until we get to see the (security camera) video and see what we’re dealing with, it’s still very sketchy,” Noble said. A call to the store went unanswered Friday night.
Anyone with any information on the robbery is urged to contact Spring Valley police at 845-356-7400.
