Drivers will soon have to slow down on Coles Ferry Pike in Lebanon.
The Lebanon City Council recently approved a resolution to change the speed limit from 40 mph to 30 mph from near the Lebanon Golf and Country Club to Hartmann Drive.
“In that area it kind of goes up into a hilly area…It’s always been a concern for safety there,” said Mayor Philip Craighead. “We’re making it 30 all the way through so that when they get off the interstate, they’ll have to slow down.”
Craighead said the city is just waiting for the posted signs to be changed for the reduction to go into effect, and he wasn’t sure of the timeline for that to be done.
Public Works Commissioner Jeff Baines said the change would take effect any day, now.
