Grade 9 Shelburne Regional High School student, Bailey Bent has returned from the provincial track and field competition victorious holding the only gold medal for his school.

Bent, a 14-year old student at SRHS recently claimed the junior medal in javelin at the NSAAF event.

He said while he wasn’t positive he was going to win he knew he was going to give it his all.

“I’ve got to do this for my school,” he remembered thinking before he threw, said Bent.

The junior achieved a 43-metre throw and is already planning to continue working to beat out the senior’s for the provincials next year.

He attributed his success to Adam Wolkins, his coach.
