Innovative defeated Greenland Children Academy 58-54 riding on MVP Ashish Basnet scoring 26 points. Odyssey, meanwhile, rode on 10 points from MVP Sagar Lama to beat hosts Golden Peak 36-25 in the junior boys’ section final. — HNS
HIMS, NIMS in final
KATHMANDU: Hosts HIMS and NIMS advanced to the boys’ section final of the seventh HIMS Inter-school Basketball Championships on Saturday. HIMS beat Mt Glory 59-41 riding on 30 points from Dorje Namhang, while Anish Shrestha posted 15 points as NIMS hammered Manjugoksha 49-17. KATHMANDU: Saroj Lama and Rupesh Kunwar advanced to the boys’ 10-12yrs kumite semi-finals in the first IMA Invitational Karate Championships here on Saturday. Saroj defeated Sajwan Budhathoki, while Rupesh beat Miraj Dangol. Manish Singh Thakuri and Sagar Thapa made it to the boys’ 12-15yrs last four, while Monika Thapa and Krishna Thapa Magar entered the girls’ 30kg semi-finals. Anjan Thapa Magar, Bishal Tamang, Saroj Waiba and Deyan Bamjan made it to the individual boys’ kata semi-finals. — HNS
Gangahiti lift title
KATHMANDU: Hosts Gangahiti Club claimed the first Open Six-a-side Men’s Football Tournament defeating Chhirbire Football Club 1-0 here on Saturday. Tej Lama scored an early ninth minute lead in Gangahiti’s narrow win. Top two finishers got Rs 111,111 and Rs 55,555 respectively. Chhirbire was rewarded with the Fair-play trophy and Rs 7,500, while their Suraj Khati was adjudged the best player of the tournament and received Rs 7,500. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Nepal APF School outplayed Puspa Sadan ‘A’ 5-0 to claim the title of the fifth Inter-school Boys’ Football Tournament here on Saturday. Saroj Kharel and Dinesh Shahi scored a brace each for APF, who were also gifted an own goal. Shahi was also named the highest scorer for his seven goals. Former national team skipper Bal Gopal Maharjan among others handed over the prizes to the winners. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Piyush Awal of Bhaktapur and Elina Maharjan of Prime claimed the college section singles titles in the fifth Krishna Dhwoj Memorial Nationwide Inter-school and College Table Tennis Tournament here on Saturday. Piyush rallied to beat Pradeep Roka of Prime 7-11, 11-8, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, while Elina saw off Kajol Rauniyar of Oxbridge 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-2. Prime also clinched both the team event gold medals. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Little Angels’ (LA) School, Kshitiz Boarding and Bhimsengola School won their respective matches of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school National Football Tournament on Saturday. LA edged Man Singh Dharma HS School 3-2 with Niraj Thapa scoring a brace. Kshitiz beat Nilbarahi HS School 3-1 with Shisak Lama netting a brace and Nabin Rai scoring one. Bhimsengola crushed Mahankal 3-1 on goals from Dhan Bahadur Tamang, Kumar Khadka and Roshan Kunwar. — HNS
