CSU’s Aaliyah Pete finished 17th Saturday in the women’s shot put at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene. Oregon.
Pete, one of just two freshmen among the 24 qualifiers, had a throw of 51 feet, 7 inches on the first of her three attempts and was unable to improve upon that mark.
Iowa State sophomore Christina Hillman was the winner at 58-2.
Pete was the last of four Colorado State University qualifiers to compete in the four-day meet at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. Senior Trevor Brown was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles and ninth in the 110 hurdles, while women’s discus throwers Kiah Hicks and Jessica Sharbono finished seventh and 11th, respectively.
