Because drifting is supposed to be loud and smoky.
There’s an art and science to drifting. It’s not something one can learn overnight. Like professional motorsport, to become a good drifter takes plenty of practice and patience. But once learned, drifting quickly becomes an addiction for many. Sure, you may burn through plenty of sets of tires, but that’s exactly the whole point. Burning rubber and plenty of smoke is part of the fun. It’s also important, when behind the wheel, to not smash into anything.
The other aspect of drifting is to prove just how much control one can have over a car while going sideways. The crew from Electric Federal recently got the chance to film the Felix Racing Team in action. And yes, there are several old and modified BMWs taking part in the action.
