Researchers have now debunked this phrase as what it is, an urban legend with no actual basis in reality. They’ve shown that it’s actually the your level of comfort with your sexuality and the amount you care about what others think of you socially which will affect how much you think about sex, not your gender. If you’re more comfortable then you’re more likely to think about sex, if you’re worried about people judging you then you’re more likely to try and prevent yourself from thinking about it.
The study found that men thought about sex around 388 times a day and women thought about it around 140 times. There were those who thought about it more than that and those who thought of it far less, it really depended on the individual and their level of comfort with the subject. Please remember that thinking about sex isn’t a bad thing, it’s not something to get anxious about as it’s totally normal! Don’t worry if you don’t think about it as much either, it’s not worth it and it’s got absolutely no bearing on who you are or your sexual prowess!
