As intense negotiations continue between the BC Teachers Federation and government, the president of the Greater Victoria Teachers Association says deal or no deal she and her fellow teachers will be rallying outside the legislature tomorrow afternoon.
She says since speakers and a large crowd are already expected, there is no reason to cancel the rally – which is aimed at getting the government to bargain in good faith – although the tone of the event could change.
“My worry, and I’ve heard my members say that, you know, we should not take any deal just because we want a deal by Tuesday. You know, at the beginning we were talking about a deal by June 30th, well we still have two weeks to that.”
Larsen says if a tentative agreement is reached, Monday morning’s study session will be a time for teachers to check out the details.
