Rovers’ five-match winning run was brought to an end by third-placed Doncaster, who snatched a 22-22 draw at the Bigfellas Stadium thanks to a last-minute try from Richard Whiting, who was playing against his old club as part of a dual-registration agreement with Hull.

 

Whiting had scored in the first half, along with Liam Welham and Mike Emmett as Doncaster established an 18-10 interval lead.

 

Winger Ben Blackmore scored his third try in two appearances for Featherstone, whose other tries came from Danny Bridge, Andrew Bostock and Jack Bussey.

 

Winger Liam Kay scored five tries in Leigh’s 60-0 rout of Barrow.

 

The Centurions were playing their fourth game in 15 days but showed little sign of fatigue as Ryan Brierley took his try tally for the season to 25 with a brace and others came from Andy Thornley, Sam Hopkins, Sean Penkywicz and Jonny Pownall, with Martyn Ridyard kicking eight goals.

 

Halifax remain in fourth place after coming from 10-0 down to beat Workington 18-10 at The Shay.

 

The Cumbrians struck early through Jason Mossop and Brett Carter but Ross Divorty got Halifax back in contention with a try on the stroke of half-time.

 

The home side made sure of their eighth win of the season thanks to second-half tries from Luke Adamson and Ryan Fieldhouse, with Steve Tyrer kicking three goals.

 

Reigning champions Sheffield Eagles leapfrogged Dewsbury into fifth place with a 28-12 win at the Tetley’s Stadium.

 

Misi Taulapapa scored a try in each half for the Eagles, whose other touchdowns came from Steve Turner, Menzie Yere and Pat Walker, who also kicked four goals.

 

Shane Grady and Austin Buchanan scored the tries for Dewsbury, who have now lost their last six matches against Sheffield.

 

Miles Greenwood’s last-minute try earned Batley a thrilling 28-24 win over Keighley, who were playing their third game in 11 days.

 

The Cougars were leading 24-22 thanks to tries from Danny Jones (two), Richie Barnett (two) and Daley Williams but Greenwood snatched the points with his second try of the game in a dramatic finish.

 

Sam Scott had earlier scored two tries that helped the Bulldogs into an 18-6 half-time lead.

 

Clive Griffiths enjoyed a dramatic victory in his last match as head coach before moving to the role of director of rugby as Crusaders claimed a 22-21 success over Whitehaven.

 

The relegation-threatened Welshmen l ed 8-0 thanks to tries from Dan Birkett and Mark Offerdahl in the first 20 minutes.

 

It was only 8-6 at half-time but Jonno Smith and Gary Middlehurst added further tries in the second half to keep the home side in front.

 

The Cumbrians scored tries through Chris Taylor, Cain Southernwood and Jessie-Joe Parker to keep themselves in touch and when Parker added a second a minute from the end, Tom Carr had a chance to win the game but his conversion attempt went wide.
