KYOGLE residents will be able to learn what services are available to them as they get older thanks to a Healthy Aging expo being held in the town today.

The Kyogle Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healthy Ageing and Wellbeing Expo will include over 20 stalls relating to services and information people can access locally.

Alzheimer’s Australia NSW project officer Christine Vannucci said the expo will also focus on ways to maintain a healthy body and brain with a series of presentations and demonstrations.

“Part of the aim behind the expo is that opportunity for service providers to showcase and network and let people know what’s available in the area,” she said.

Alzheimer’s Australia will be presenting a Your Brain Matters program promoting healthy brain ageing.

The focus of the Kyogle expo will be on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The event is being hosted by Alzheimer’s Australia NSW together with Kyogle Council, Far North Coast Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre, as well as a range of other local community and aged care services.

Entertainment will include seated yoga hosted by Tori Brail and entertainment by Tom Avery.

The event is free and open to all members of the community. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

The expo is being held at the Kyogle Memorial Institute Hall from 9.45am to 2pm.
