On Saturday the Pairs final was played along with the semi-final of the Triples championships.
Both games were among the best bowls played at the club in a long time.
Gary King and Trevor Messenger played Bill Meharg and Terry Dray in the Men’s Pairs’ final.
It was a close game throughout and on the seventh end the scores were locked at 5-all.
By the 14th end the scores were 13-12, Bill and Terry’s way.
On the 19th end Bill and Terry had skipped out to a 23-16 lead after getting six shots on the previous end.
This gave them a seven-shot lead with two ends to play.
Gary and Trevor scored a four and three on the last two ends to tie the score at 23-all.
An extra end was needed to decide the game.
Gary and Trevor scored one shot and took the Pairs’ title, a fitting end to the game.
Great game boys, it was a real nail-biter.
The Triples semi-final was played between Ron Payne, Roger darby and Kevin Stanley vs Jack Charlton, Robert Harvey, and Bob Wilson.
This game was also close all the way through and on the fifth end the score was 7-6 Kevin’s way.
On the 14th end the score was 17-14 Kevin’s way and by the last end the scores locked at 20-all.
A extra end was played to decide the game and each side went shot for shot.
Kevin came down and drew the shot and his bowl ended about six inches from the jack.
Then Bob stepped to the matand sent down a drive that took Kevin’s bowl clean out to win the game.
This was a great game to watch, both sides played their hearts out and it was a shame their could be only one winner.
This Sunday a Triple’s final between will be played between Ron Moore, Ted Roberts and Gary King vs Jack Charlton, Rob Harvey and Bob Wilson at 1pm.
This game will be a rip snorter as both sides are in great form. Come along and watch the boys go at it.
Bowls results for Wednesday June 11.
Mick Butterworth and Terry Dray won the day defeating Mo Clare and Roger Darby 30-13.
Runners-up Gary King and Don Graham defeated Allen Manning and Bob Wilson 20-12.
The boys lost on a countback after each team scored 13 ends.
In other games Ian Humphries and Bill Meharg defeated Greg Whiteman and Ted Roberts 21-18.
Keith O’Grady and Ron Oxenham defeated Charlie Morley and Jack Charlton 20-16.
Ron Moore and Kevin Stanley defeated Dave Wilson and Roger Simpson 22-9.
The jackpot was not won. Raffle winner was Ron Oxenham.
On Friday night the raffle and the member’s draw were conducted, the badge draw was not won. Bruce Bourke’s number came out but he had gone home early, bad luck Bruce. Next week the draw is $400.
Just a reminder that membership subs are now due.
It is on again this Wednesday at 1 pm, so come a long and learn to play lawn bowls. The boys will teach you and there are new bowls at the club for you to play with.
New bowling members are always most welcome.

Evelyn Kohler, Dot heath and Rose Davis took the honours on Thursday in the Ladies Bowls.Judy Roberts and Shirley Ryan claimed runners up.
