Middle-aged men, however, when asked, responded that they feel less satisfied with their sex lives as time goes on. Many of the men in this group also reported suffering from sexual dysfunction as well as having less sex overall.
The sexual health study was conducted with subjects who were either married or cohabiting and aged between 50 and 79. Researchers asked them about their sex lives as well as associated issues to do with their overall wellness and sense of wellbeing.
Three quarters of the women surveyed said that they were satisfied with their sex lives, which was in direct contrast to the fact that only half of the men in the group agreed that their sex lives were satisfactory.
Frequency of sex was not a determining factor – some were satisfied with very little sex and some were satisfied with a lot of sex, it was more a case of individual preference. About 16 percent of the men responded that they were very dissatisfied with their sex lives, whereas only 10 percent of the women made the same comment.
