One of the main ways which a new diabetic will monitor their condition is through the use of blood-sugar testing. This is an important way of keeping tabs on their level of blood-sugar and seeing the affects which different things have on their body. Exercise, eating, drinking and even doing nothing will be reacted to differently and it’s imperative that diabetics learn just how their body reacts and how to make sure that reaction isn’t a negative one.
Taking Regular Blood Tests
– Make sure the goals you set yourself are realistic. It’s all very well and good saying you’re going to test your blood every two hours but ask yourself, are you going to have time to do that? Most people are far too busy for that sort of commitment and as such should start slower.
– Find ways to remind yourself to test. Chars, post it notes, friends or reminders on your phone can be great ways of doing this!
– Ask for help! No man (or woman) is an island, if you get the support of the people around you you’ll feel the weight of your new lifestyle ease from your shoulders. They may not understand why it’s important but when they see that it is, they’ll do their best to help you!
