STAFF at a town centre one-stop health shop will move to Colchester Library from next month.
Full time staff at Cornerstone, which is run by NHS group Anglian Community Enterprise, will move to the library as part of scheme to bring more services under one roof.
But about 20 staff, who also carry out work in west and mid-Essex are not able to be accommodated and will instead transfer to Kennedy Way, in Clacton as a north Essex base.
Cornerstone in Colchester provides a stop-smoking service, weight management, health trainers and sexual health advice.
Kerry-may Surtees, Integrated Care Manager Health and Wellbeing at Anglian Community Enterprise (ACE), said: “All these services will continue to be available at the new library site.
“The opportunity to move into the library will enable us to offer all the services we currently provide but they will be alongside other advice services such as the Citizens Advice Bureaux, Police Beat Surgery and Colchester Borough Council customer services.
“Having all these services under the one roof will be more convenient for members of the public plus there is the added advantage of the library being open seven days a week.”
The service, which will move on January 23, has been in Sir Isaac’s Walk for ten years and has 24,000 users each year.
Anne Brown, Essex County Council cabinet member for Public Health, added: “The health improvement services we commission from ACE continue to be very successful and benefit large numbers of local people.
“Moving to such a publicly accessible place as the town centre library can only be a positive step and we look forward to even more people taking advantage of the wide range of services on offer.”
