It’s Hot In The Summer Sun. Why Is That A Bad Thing?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, diabetics need to be more careful. They need to be more aware of their bodies and how they’ll react to certain things. Not being prepared and ready for a bad reaction be it a spike in blood-sugar levels or simply hunger pangs, could have serious ramifications which could in the long run could lead to death. It’s all about understanding type two diabetes and planning around the disease, not ignoring it and not planning for it. Type two diabetics can live relatively normal lives providing they never forget about their condition.

One of the things that you’ll need to be aware of is that it’s not only the things you put into your body which could affect you. There are outside influences which can make managing diabetes much more of a challenge, you should be prepared for these things and ready to deal with them they arise. Providing you take adequate precautions you shouldn’t have too much of an issue. Forewarned is forearmed after all!

The hotter Summer months can exacerbate a type two diabetics symptoms. During the hottest points of the years the use of A and E rooms by diabetics increases drastically as they find their condition more and more difficult to keep under control. It’s at times of extreme heat and humidity in which you’re going to have to take steps and show caution. Stay out of the sun or make sure you can cool off with a dip in the pool or a room fan.
Staying hydrated is imperative as, when your blood-sugar rises you’ll find yourself urinating more which in turn will dehydrate you. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and make sure to totally avoid other dehydrating factors like caffeine, alcohol and copious amounts of exercise for the duration of the heat wave!
