It can be tricky to get to grips with the process of blood-sugar testing initially as there are simply so many rules and regulations to remember. We at Yourwellness understand the frustration this can cause and as such we’ve put together a list of advice on the most effective ways to test your blood-sugar levels, no mess no fuss.
– Know the tools. Read any instructions which come with any equipment that you’re using and don’t forget to check the manufacturer website if anything seems strange or unduly confusing. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, after all.
– Test Strips? Test strips come in all shapes and sizes and this can be a little daunting at first, make sure that the strips that you’re buying are designed to work with your blood-glucose meter. Don’t worry too much about brand-names, generic store brands will work just fine providing they’re made to work with your meter!
– Expiry Dates. Test strips have an expiry date which a lot of diabetics can initially miss. Using out of date test strips will compromise any blood-sugar test you take and make the data unreliable.
– Spick and Span. Your Glucose Meter should be treated like any other piece of medical equipment and kept very clean. There should be no debris left on the lens.
