It grows from the strict regulations countries now have on alcohol. Teenagers are fascinated by it and when they finally get exposed to it they drink too much and get sick. Now, binge drinking has some obvious effects. You’ll be hungover the next day, you might even have alcohol poisoning. Depending on who you are, this could be a living hell in itself. You’ll damage your liver and your kidneys and excessive binge drinking could actually destroy this organ and leave you in a critical state.
What scientists have recently discovered is that binge drinking can also lead you towards type two diabetes. As I’m sure many of you know, type two diabetes is caused when the body develops an insulin resistance and makes it harder to process blood-sugar. This causes the levels of blood-sugar in your body to rise and cause damage.
When you binge drink you’re interfering with the area of your brain which controls your insulin regulation. The effects of this can last for years after your last drink and make it very difficult for you to manage your blood-sugar levels!
Moderation is key, there’s nothing wrong with getting a bit drunk if you do it safely and you’re not doing it every night!
