Never Underestimate your Body It’s looking out for you

There’s a real habit of underestimating our bodies today. We live in an age of technological wonder, of medical advances and of truly astounding leaps in society. Medicine can do miraculous things; drugs can alter how we are and override all of our inbuilt systems. That’s fine when you’re treating certain conditions and certain issues but when it comes to it, our bodies survived for millions of years without medicine, they’re designed to adapt and keep going. We don’t give our own natural defence mechanisms and processes nearly enough credit and it’s only now that medical researchers are starting to unlock and empower the more latent abilities which we never knew we had. An example of this would be a pioneering set of research being done into treating cancer in which the immune system was stimulating into attacking and eradicating all cancerous cells, theoretically treating the disease without the need for chemo.

When you’re trying to achieve weight loss you’ve got to stop thinking about yourself and your body being separate entities. You’ve got to start seeing yourself as all you are. There are all sorts of little things you can do to help and hasten your weight loss along. Two stand out as the easiest to manipulate and the most effective.

–       Digestion – You’re going to want good digestion to ensure you’re breaking down the food you eat properly and that you’re getting all the nutrients and vitamins you possibly can from anything you consume. Mint is a fantastic digestion aid, as is ginger. Try and get these two into your meals and your day-to-day cooking as often as you can and see the difference it makes!

–       Metabolism – This is your base-rate of calorie burning. High metabolism means it costs your body more energy to get through the day, low metabolism means you’ll need less energy to get by. Essentially, for weight loss you’re going to want to ramp your metabolism up as high as it can go. You can do this through the liberal use of cayenne pepper in everything you cook and by exercising more than normal!
