A new diet called the Paleo diet is getting a lot of attention and it’s also being marketing as an anti-inflammatory arthritis diet. Essentially the diet says that if our caveman ancestors didn’t eat it then we shouldn’t either and as most of the inflammatory foods are overly processed it could well have a point! Here are some pros and cons of the diet, they should let you know if it’s worth doing or not!
Pros
- Primarily natural foods which are good for you in general. The body and brain work better together if you’re eating natural foods and it can make you function better on the whole
- More protein and less carbohydrates means that the diet is less bulky and more likely to help you lose weight. Remember atkins? It’s similar but without giving up carbohydrates in their entirety.
- Very few classic allergen foods in the diet. This lessens the chance of adverse health issues and should increase your wellness overall.
Cons
- Makes dairy out to be bad for you which it isn’t. If you’re lactose intolerant or otherwise can’t process dairy then you should avoid it but otherwise, it should always be included in your diet.
- Excludes potatoes and legumes like peanuts. These are healthy foods and should always take a place in a balanced diet. Add them in and the diet becomes much better!
- Ignores exercise and the importance of an active lifestyle. You should be active while dieting or you’ll never experience the full effect.
