Conferences And Journals: How Scientists Get It Done

Asthma is one of the most suffered chronic conditions in the world and without the proper treatment and therapies it can be deadly. In a lot of parts of the world the medicine used to treat asthma simply isn’t available and many die every year from this condition. However, as with most things the effectiveness of asthma treatments is always advancing and in the last decade alone we’ve seen some startling improvements. Most recently the evolution of the two medicine treatment to the single inhaler treatment, which does the job of both of the other medications combined!

These advances in medicine don’t just happen, they’re brought about by the time and effort put in by medical personal all over the world. Hundreds of thousands of hours are poured into research and billions of dollars every year to maintain these researchers. It’s not a quick process nor an easy one but the progress, while slow, is very real. When scientists make advances in a particular area it’s common for them to publish their findings in scientific journals for publication but occasionally conferences will host these new advances.

Scientific conferences allow the leading minds in their fields to discuss the best way forwards and the successes their advances may have had while also focussing on the new dangers facing certain conditions. In terms of asthma there’s a conference in London which has now been held nine years running. It’s known as the Asthma and COPD conference and this year it’s taking place in London on the 15th and 16th of April. A lot of the latest advances in asthma treatments will be discussed at this conference and there’ll be talks about the increasing environmental dangers which face asthma sufferers every day!

The conference is open to the public and should it take your interest, be you an asthma sufferer or have a loved one who sufferers from the condition, you may find it of use to attend!
