Weight loss supplements are an area which is fairly controversial due to their sheer volume available and how many have been shown to have no positive effect but rather a negative one. There is a short list of questions you can ask yourself when you’re considering which supplement to take:
- Does it Work?
This can be tricky to work out without taking the product yourself. If you’re not a scientist yourself then the best thing to do is look for authoritative, non-commercial reviews. If a lot of people who don’t appear to be connected to the product seem happy with it then it probably works but if the reviews are mainly negative then it may be best to avoid it! - Is it Safe?
Most herbal or all-natural products can be assumed to be safe but other than these it’s very difficult to tell. Any damage may be done over a long period of time and you may not notice it for years. Again, check online and ask friends to see what they think of the product. Do not just accept the company in question’s media page! - Is the Dose enough?
Some supplement companies show that their products are effective in trials but then remove almost all of the ingredients which actually made them effective in the first place. So, though what you’re taking would work in a massive dose, in the doses you’re taking it there will be little or no effect at all.
