When asthmatic patients get older they start to enter a high risk bracket. The older they are the more likely they are to be hospitalised from their conditions and the more likely it is for them to die of asthma related complications. This is largely because asthma does constant, if tiny, damage to patient’s lungs. The longer they have asthma the more damage is done and incremental though it may be, decades of the respiratory disease mounts up in time!
As always, the best way to protect against this is by being prepared. Asthma can’t damage you if you don’t let it. Always have your inhaler on you and make sure to avoid the allergens which set off your condition the worst where you can. After so long with the condition you should have a pretty good handle on the best ways of treating it, all you need to do is step up your game. The more careful and the better prepared you are the more likely it is that you’ll survive an attack and the easier it will be to preserve your health and wellness for years to come.
