Ovarian cancer is obviously a condition which only affects women. 6,500 women are diagnosed with the condition in the UK alone and while most of these women are menopausal that doesn’t mean they all are. It’s possible to get ovarian cancer at almost any age and as such it’s important to know the symptoms. This knowledge could lead to you going to get checked by your doctor and this could save your life! Here’s what you need to look out for:
– Persistent abdominal or pelvic pain
– Persistent abdominal bloating (an increase in stomach size which isn’t usual period bloating and doesn’t go away)
– Feeling much more full much more quickly
– Needing to pee much more frequently or much more urgently
– Changes in bowel habits
– Extreme fatigue
– Unexplained weight loss
The final three in the above list are uncommon symptoms but should be watched out for all the same. If you suffer from any number of these symptoms then it’s really important that you see your doctor as soon as you can. The earlier you catch a cancer the more effectively it can be treated and the less likely you are to experience any complications.
