How To Avoid Asthma In Your Children

The allergens which exacerbate asthma are fairly well-known in medicine. Pollen and pollution are the big two which exist outdoors and mould, dust and animals are the three which worst effect asthmatics indoors. So regardless of where you go you’ve got things to look out for. Asthmatics should largely try to avoid these allergens and get them out of their lives as much as they can. In terms of asthmatic children this falls to their parents or guardians.

In several recent studies the importance of removing certain allergens from the environments your children spend time in has reached whole new levels. It has been shown that exposure to mould spores early in life can lead to asthma developing in the first place. This means that a little extra cleaning could be all the difference between your child having healthy lungs and unhealthy lungs. It’s the sort of thing that will follow them all the way through their lives and as such it should become a priority for you!

As long as you keep your house clean you should be able to protect your kids from the ravages of asthma. Mould can be removed with a weak bleach solution. Make sure you keep damp areas like bathrooms, well ventilated and as dry as possible and you shouldn’t see the mould grow back. Dust is simple, vacuum often. The more of you that share the house the more you’re going to have to vacuum. It’s the dust mites which are the issue, they feed on skin cells and excrete a protein which is actually the thing which asthmatics are allergic too! Keep the skin off the ground and you shouldn’t have too much of an issue.

Remember to contact your doctor with any additional concerns. Asthma isn’t a condition you should ever take lightly, it’s always best to seek assistance if in doubt.
