A Filipino-Chinese businessman, known as Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, developed and first promoted pranic healing in Manila in the Philippines in the late 1980s. Meanwhile, the Japanese guru Mikao Usui devised the Reiki System of Healing in the early 1900s, and it has since become enormously popular worldwide.
Both work on the basic idea that disease happens when one or more of the so-called “chakras”, which means an energy centre, is not functioning well due to any number of factors. So let’s take a look at these two forms of healing and see how they are supposed to work.
Pranic healing
Pranic healers believe that if you are unwell it will make your body give off negative or diseased energy. Thus, the objective of the healer is to keep the chakras moving and functioning well, using a no-touch technique that aims to balance the energy centres of the body in order to generate good health and well-being. It is thought that giving off the right energy should also bring you prosperity and wealth.
Reiki healing
Unlike pranic healing, reiki healing uses a hands-on technique to achieve its results. The healers are trained to sensitise their hands by gliding through all these chakras so that they can detect which ones are malfunctioning. Connecting to a higher plane of consciousness the reiki healer can then summon and become a channeler of positive energy, resulting in the patient becoming well again.
