If you follow a CTM routine, you’d know how essential it is to stick to it regularly. However, a lot of that pain can go to vain if you don’t do it right. One of the biggest mistakes a lot of people tend to make is to apply their skincare products wrong – rubbing the product in, instead of patting it into the skin. You’ve heard it several times especially when it comes to towel drying your face, but did you know that it applies to how you apply your products too.
This J and K beauty technique isn’t a myth that people blindly follow, but is actually something that helps maintain your skin’s health and glow. Essentially, the act of rubbing your skin can be quite detrimental, especially around the eye area. Rubbing your face causes friction to take place, which irritates the skin. It also pulls the skin unnecessarily, damaging the skin structure.
Going the gentler route, patting minimises the chances of either happening. If you’ve noticed, a lot of the favourite Japanese and Korean brands recommend patting their products – whether it’s a moisturiser or a sheet mask. This is also because it increases the skin’s ability to absorb the product, soak in the ingredients, and stimulate blood circulation leaving a nice glowing texture to the skin.
While, one might think that there’s only one way to pat your skin, of course it’s a lot more complicated than that. You can either tap your hands gently in fast motions, or you can pat them down slowly, palm-first on your skin. Another technique would be to warm the product in your hands and then gently pat it against your face — this way, the product is evenly spread across your skin.
