The most common issue out there is acne. You may be following your skincare routine religiously but may still fall victim to a pimple popping out of nowhere. From zits to breakouts, they can be really annoying and the reason could be you. Here, we break down a few mistakes that you are making that is making your acne worse:

Popping those zits

Everyone picks on those tiny monsters, but get those hands off! Picking on your pimple will not only lead to worsened acne but will leave behind acne scars. Breakouts will come and go but the scars will remain.

Excessive scrubbing

While scrubbing is good skincare, you should avoid it when you get breakouts. Your acne needs you to be gentle on them and scrubbing will only make it worse. Instead, stick to a mild face wash till your zit decides to bid goodbye.

Using the wrong products

It is important to do your research before using anything on your skin. You need to see if the product suits your skin, do a patch test, see whether it will lead to any allergic reactions or not. However, it is recommended to avoid experimenting especially when you have acne.

Using a lot of products

With the variety available now-a-days, you may want to use them all. But, all products must be used in moderation. Overuse of products compromises the skin’s natural barrier only leading to increased acne. Always, try and use products as suggested by your dermatologist or whatever suits you the best.

Overdoing spot treatments

When you get acne, you tend to go for various spot treatments. Be it a blemish-free cream or an anti-acne gel, you want to use them all. It will curb the acne for a week or two but it won’t stop another zit from popping up.

Skipping moisturising

Acne is generally prone to oily skin. You may feel like skipping the moisturiser to avoid excessive oil, but that is one thing you shouldn’t do. Pick a moisturiser that best suits your skin, blend it well and don’t apply lots of it but enough for your skin to receive the necessary hydration.

Unhealthy diet

Enough emphasis is always put on having a good diet and it stands true even for acne. Unhealthy eating habits can also lead to acne. So, make sure you are eating right and cut down on the junk.

Stress

Yes, you read that right. Stress, too can lead to breakouts. Stress levels have a huge impact on your skin so everytime you are feeling stressed, trying calming activities like meditating, reading, going for a quick walk, anything that makes you calmer and happy.
