Working out with a personal trainer can be a fantastic way to improve your wellness by increasing your general fitness. The motivation of having someone dedicated to helping you reach your fitness goals is second to none.
There are, however, things that personal trainers wish that they could tell their clients, and we’ve collated a list of them. Your personal trainer may find it difficult to ever say these things to you, because you are their client, but they are certainly things that you should take note of. Keeping your personal trainer happy should be considered an important part of improving your wellbeing, and will help you to get the very most out of every workout.
1) Don’t show up hungover. If you have a session the next day, it’s rude and irresponsible to stay out drinking, because it leaves you far from your best during your workout, and wastes everybody’s time.
2) Even if you’re not feeling up for a workout, you should still attend your session. If you have specific aches and pains, your personal trainer will adapt the routine to suit you that day. Or you could simply spend the time discussing diet and nutrition that day – but missing the session altogether should not be an option, unless you are quite unwell.
3) Don’t expect your personal trainer to look after your children or do anything else other than be your personal trainer.
4) Personal trainers work in close contact with you, so have some regard for your personal hygiene. Wear proper deodorant and make sure you wear fresh clothes for each session.
5) Please do not use your mobile phone during a session. It’s very rude to take calls during a personal training session, meaning your instructor has to stand around while you take a call. It also takes away important time from your workout.
