5 quick-fixes for makeup mishaps

While the thought of having lipstick on your teeth can make you shudder, common makeup faux pas like this doesn’t have to be a complete catastrophe. They do happen to the best of us, and fortunately, there are quick-fixes for almost every situation. Here are some simple hacks that will save you from embarrassment:

1. Lipstick on your teeth

There’s no doubt that bright red lips are the epitome of sexy. Unfortunately, when the color is transferred to your teeth, that sexy score goes down a notch, or two. However, there is a way around that. After pressing your lips down on some soft tissue, simply rub a super-thin layer of Vaseline across your teeth, and you’ll never have to worry about flashing those pearly whites.

2. Your mascara is patchy

While a lot of us might not be naturally blessed with long lashes like almost every man we may encounter, there’s really no reason to overdo it with the mascara, especially if it’s old. First things, first: toss out that old tube. Second, all you have to do to ensure you’ve done this right is gently press down on your lashes with a baby wipe, and slowly pull them all the way through. This will help remove any excess formula. Rubbing a little Vaseline on your fingertips and lightly applying it across the tips of your lashes, will separate, darken, and define them.

3. Racoon eyes

There are smoky eyes, and then there’s going overboard. You don’t want to look like you’ve been punched in the face, do you? There’s a simple solution. The perfect smoky eye should be a progression of color across the eyelid; make sure it’s not entirely in black. But more importantly, remember to blend well to give it a gradient effect.

4. Tickle me pink

Well, not literally. You don’t want to look like you’ve been baked under the sun. After all, applying blush is to give the illusion of a pinkish hue, so if you’ve applied a little too much blush, don’t panic. If you’ve used a powdered blush, just brush on loose, translucent powder to lighten the color. If it’s a cream-based formula, lightly sponge over some liquid foundation to reduce the color.

5. Too much powder

Congratulations, you’ve just succeeded in doing your makeup for Halloween! But, if you’re not in costume, you don’t exactly want to come across as a ghost or zombie, do you? Now, if you have, there’s a simple trick you can try. Before you go ahead and wipe it off, just wait 10 minutes. The natural oils in your skin will absorb the excess powder. However, even if after that, you find that there’s still too much powder, hold a tissue over your face and spritz some facial mist. It should take care of the problem. Also, you can go ahead and do this if you don’t have 10 minutes to spare.
