Everyone agrees that exercise is good for you, and can have a great effect on your weight and fitness, but if, for some reason, you are not able to exercise, you can still improve your wellness and lose weight by following a number of simple tricks. Others may simply hate exercise, despite knowing that sweating helps to improve wellbeing and helps burn away the pounds, and so will also be interested in finding out ways to lower their weight without having to hit the gym.
First of all, it may surprise you, but one way to help you lose weight is to turn down the lights. Research has shown that those who eat in places where the light is softer and dimmer are likely to consume an average of 175 fewer calories than those who eat where there are bright lights and loud music.
Eating off a smaller plate can also have a positive effect. Most standard plates are around 12 inches wide, so if you shrink yours down to around 10, you will be able to cut down about 23 percent on portion size. Without even thinking about it, you will then consume fewer calories and gradually start to lose weight.
A strange but startling effective weight-loss technique is also to announce everything that you are eating out loud. This is usually just reserved for snacks, where you have to say, ‘I am not hungry but I’m going to eat this anyway’. Studies have shown that people who do this automatically cut down on their snack intake, and lose around two pounds every month when they do this every day.
It’s also really important to weigh yourself. Avoiding the scales can mean that you are in denial. Step on the scales regularly to keep track of how much you weigh, and then you will no longer be able to be in denial about how much you weigh.
