Head shave date set by sick officer from Marlborough

Police officer Emma Brown, who is battling ovarian cancer, has set a date for her head shave to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Miss Brown, 39, of Marlborough, will be joined by friends, family and her sergeant, Alex Spargo, at 11am on February 28 at Goldsworthy’s hair salon in Hughenden Yard, Marlborough.

Miss Brown joined the force 20 years ago as a special constable volunteer before becoming a response officer and has served Marlborough, Pewsey and Devizes.

She has been based in Swindon for two years, but is now off work and due to start chemotherapy next month after her January diagnosis.

Despite being told that her treatment will not cause hair loss, she decided to shave her head to show solidarity with other sufferers.

She said: “It is exciting. It is not every day you shave your hair off. People have been so generous and sent some lovely messages.”

She has raised £1,500 to date and welcomes donations on the day or online via www.justgiving.com/PCEmmaBrown
