RENEW: To relax and refresh the body, mind and spirit, Mines Wellness Hotel offers a host of holistic treatments within a peaceful sanctuary
SERI KEMBANGAN: MINES Wellness Hotel, with its holistic wellness programmes for relaxation and rejuvenation, is a haven for the health-conscious as well as the weary.
Members of the media were recently treated to the hotel’s Fusion Wellness Retreat experience.
The two-days, one-night programme offered traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda treatments, traditional Malay therapy, qigong, yoga, sacral therapy, spa and detox.
The TCM centre houses 18 tuina and therapy rooms, a herbs bar and a pharmacy. The centre is staffed by a certified Chinese physician, tuinalogist, reflexologist and herbalist to provide foot reflexology, cupping, acupuncture, pulse reading and massage.
Guests can also choose to de-stress the Ayurvedic way — through anti-stress massage, scalp massage, full body massage and head oil drip. These treatments generally relax the body and help to release healing energy.
Also recommended is the traditional Malay massage, which helps to improve blood circulation, the herbal steam bath to detoxify the body, and the aromatic flower bath to improve aura circulation.
Other traditional Malay therapy services include pre-natal and post-natal massage, milk scrub, herbal compress and baby massage.
The exercise sessions are also worth trying. At yoga, professional therapists guide you in breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and posture balance. Qiqong, on the other hand, is the art and science of using breathing, gentle movements and meditation to cleanse, strengthen and circulate the life energy.
Located within Mines Resort City, the hotel offers 168 well-designed guest rooms and suites, including 47 rooms in picturesque chalets. Each room has a balcony with a view of the lake or overlooking the water canal.
The smoke-free hotel also provides special Wellness Rooms that are equipped with specialised organic beds and pillows, salt crystal lamps and a pebble walk path for reflexology on the balconies, among others.
Treat yourself to healthy fare menu at the pork-free Chinese restaurant Cheng Ho Court. Among the popular dishes here are double-boiled winter melon with dried scallop soup, stir-fried spinach with garlic, stir-fried ostrich meat with spring onion and ginger, and braised bean curd and chicken with oyster sauce.
For those with a preference for international or Malay cuisine, Abdul and Charlie’s offers all-day open concept dining.
The highlight of the hotel is a beautiful landscaped lagoon pool built on the shores of a scenic 60-hectare lake.
Garden weddings, beach barbecues, family days, team building events and other such events may be held here.
With five multipurpose function rooms, the hotel is ideal for corporate meetings, conferences and seminars. It has two ballrooms that can each accommodate up to 150 and 280 guests.
Mines Wellness Hotel is 15 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre and a 30-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur Low Cost Carrier Terminal, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.
