Victoria Gingell is this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winner because she didn’t let an illness defeat her.
The 31-year-old suffered from a subarachnoid haemorrhage, a type of stroke, last year and had to undergo a life-saving operation.
But, a year on, Victoria has organised to do an abseil to mark getting over her illness.
She will be abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower this Sunday with three friends.
‘When I do the abseil, it is exactly a year after I fell ill,’ she says.
‘I am really scared of heights so an abseil will be a real challenge.’
Victoria’s recovery from her stroke is going well and and she wanted to give something back to the charity that helped her.
She adds: ‘I wanted to raise money for the Stroke Association because they helped me so much.
‘The work they do is amazing and I was eager to give something back.’
Victoria, from Lower Drayton Lane in Drayton, is excited about the abseil.
She says: ‘I am excited but I am not a fan of heights.
‘The last time I abseiled, I was in school and it was about 30ft so it was nothing like the Spinnaker Tower.
‘But my friends are doing it too to support me.’
Victoria hopes to raise £1,000. To make a donation, please visit justgiving.com/v-gingell.
