Too many cooks will not spoil the broth in Immingham this week, as budding chefs prepare to take part in a national cooking challenge to win a share of a £5,500 prize pot.
Children, parents and staff from Immingham Children’s Centre will be joined by members of their local community as they battle it out in the Let’s Get Cooking BIG Cookathon 2014, which hopes to get as many people as possible cooking a healthy dish, on Friday April 4.
At Immingham Children’s Centre, cooking is set to kick off at 9am, with sessions every hour for people to attend in small groups to prepare their easy peasy pizza.
With more than 60 people signed up already, we need your help to take part and enjoy the BIG Cookathon Challenge.
Let’ Get Cooking – which runs the country’s largest network of healthy cooking clubs – is aiming to beat last year’s success, when more than 40,000 people took part.
Hannah Atkin the Let’s Get Cooking club coordinator and Parental Engagement Worker at Immingham Children’s Centre said: “It’s a massive challenge to have so many people cooking all on the same day, but we’re determined to help Let’s Get Cooking notch up its biggest total yet and to get even more people cooking in Immingham.
“Each child attending the sessions will create a pizza portrait of themselves and we will take a photograph to create a montage of every person taking part in this event.
“We will be working with children who are attending Immingham Day Care and the foundation classes at Eastfield Primary Academy.”
If you are registered with Immingham Children’s Centre, or if you are a resident of in Immingham, Habrough, Stallingborough or Healing and have a child aged up to five years old then you can get on board in helping the community win this exciting national challenge.
Grandparents, carers and older siblings are welcome.
