Summer camps galore at Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA

The Ahwatukee Foothills Family YMCA will be offering numerous summer camps, keeping children engaged throughout the summer break.

The YMCA will offer camp favorites and sprinkle in new experiences each week. Campers will be fully immersed in various daily activates from organized games, arts and crafts projects, field trips and swimming.

The YMCA will be offering different summer camps ranging from Traditional Camps to H2O YEAH! Camp.

Traditional Camp is an all-day experience for children 5 to 11 years old who will enjoy organized games, character development activities, and arts and crafts.

Campers will also participate in different weekly field trips and be able to swim in the facility’s pool.

“The kids will swim twice a week, and will take field trips anywhere from two to three times a week,” said Vikee Diaz, the childcare director. “It’s a very active group.”

Traditional Camp is a 10-week program starting on Tuesday, May 27 and ending on Friday, Aug. 1, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Weekly rates for Traditional Camp range from $150 to $183.

H2O YEAH! Camp focuses more toward an aquatic experience where children who are in the age group of 12-14 years old will participate in various aquatic games in the facility’s pool area.

Kids are required to know how to swim prior to signing up for the H2O YEAH! Camp.

“We have a theme that is going to be a different kind of water sports like polo or basketball in the water; we have another week where we are polishing up their swimming skills; and taking their play to the next level,” Diaz said.

H2O YEAH! Camp is an eight-week camp from Monday, June 2 to Friday, July 25.

Campers will meet Monday through Thursday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Weekly rate for H2O YEAH! Camps ranges from $30 to $45.
