The Indiana boys’ track and field team won just seven events but outlasted host Latrobe, 78-72, in a WPIAL Section 1-AAA meet.
The Indiana girls fell to Latrobe, 93-57.
Corey Denlinger won the javelin and the long jump to lead the Indiana boys (6-1). Darrious Carter took the triple jump and ran on the winning 3,200 relay team with Ryan Snyder, Cole Rosenberger and Adam Lenze. Jacob Kester placed first in the pole vault, Chris McConnell took the high jump, and Huzmah Wahi won the 110 hurdles.
Freshman Jess Stever placed first in the high jump and ran with Keaton Lauver, Alyssa Millen and Mia West on the winning 400 relay team. Melanie Zolocsik placed first in the 1,600.
UNITED SCORES SWEEP: The United boys’ and girls’ track and field teams swept Purchase Line and Penns Manor in a Heritage Conference triangular meet.
The United boys beat Purchase Line, 79-70, and Penns Manor, 79-68. The United girls beat Purchase Line, 94-41, and Penns Manor, 99-50.
Jake Beacker won the javelin and the pole vault to lead the United boys. Beacker also ran with Jesse Beacker, Gage George and Mike Dill on the winning 1,600 relay. James Currie placed first in the 300 hurdles, Andrew Deitman won the shot put, Alec Wolf took the discus, and Devin Mack placed first in the high jump.
Grant Syster won the 100 and the 200, and Dan Learn took the 800 and 400 for Purchase Line. Taylor Antisdel won the 1,600, and Alec Sunderlin took the 110 hurdles. Antisdel also ran with Learn, Adam Farmery and Nathan Moore on the winning 3,200 relay team.
Beck Branton won the long jump and Cyrus Lieb took the triple jump for Penns Manor. Branton also ran on the winning 400 relay team with James Harvey, Nathan Dumm and Bailey Mumau.
Kennedy Fletcher won the shot put, discus and javelin for the United girls. Laken Pudliner took the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Eden Lydic placed first in the 100 and 200, Ryleigh Ludwig won the 1,600 and 3,200, and Eden Bloom took the triple jump.
Penns Manor’s Devon Bratton won the pole vault and ran alongside Sarah DaBella, Tara Miller and Alissa Bennett on the winning 400 relay team. Jess Polenik placed first in the long jump.
Ashley Goodlin, Allison Goodlin and Kaylee Maughan each ran on Purchase Line’s winning 3,200 and 1,600 relay teams. The 3,200 relay team included Cassie McCoy, and the 1,600 relay team included Jaycelyn Fleming. Allison Goodlin took the 800, and Ashley Goodlin won the 400.
LIGONIER VALLEY DOMINATES: The Ligonier Valley boys’ and girls’ track and field teams beat Marion Center and host Northern Cambria in a Heritage Conference triangular meet.
The Ligonier Valley boys beat Marion Center, 129-21. Northern Cambria defeated Marion Center, 114-36.
The Ligonier Valley girls bested Northern Cambria, 103-47. Northern Cambria edged Marion Center, 74-72.
Carlos Chavez took the 800 and the 1,600 to power the Ligonier Valley boys. Alec Bloom won the discus, Anthony Thomas finished first in the 100, and Josh Fitz placed first in the long jump.
Seth Bearer took the 200, the 400 and the high jump to guide the Colts. Nolan Paronish won the javelin, Gus Yahner took the pole vault, and Desmond Phillips won the triple jump.
David Wiles won the 3,200 for the Stingers.
Jasmine Conner placed first in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 200 for Ligonier Valley.
Other winners were Heming in the 400, Ari Tutino in the 100, Amanda Ross in the shot put, Emily Ulery in the discus, Mc-Laughlin in the long jump, Ashley Smith in the high jump and Nikki Davis in the pole vault.
Marion Center’s winners were Hannah Fulton in the 1,600 and 3,200, Taya Whitfield in the 800 and Hanna Beer in the javelin.
Emily Pavelko won the triple jump for the Colts.
