The NMU Lions Club chapter held their Third annual Lead the Way Kick Ball Tournament.
Dozens came out to the Vandament Arena on Saturday to play some ball and help out a good cause. The tournament raises funds to train dogs in the Leader Dogs For the Blind program.
In the last two years they have been able to raise more than $2,000 for the program. It takes close to $40,000 to train one dog in the program.
Just last year Floyd graduated from the program.
“Between the GPS unit and the Leader Dog both of which I received at the Leader Dog school I am invincible I can go anywhere independently. Floyd and I just came back from traveling from the west coast and back, just the two of us,” said Gretchen Preston.
They’re hoping to raise at least a thousand dollars for the program.
