Best Buy offers electronics recycling all year

On this Earth Day, Best Buy is reminding people who are spring cleaning their houses to recycle any old appliances or electronics.

A few people were dropping off old tube TV’s and computers Tuesday afternoon at the Boardman store. Geek Squad supervisor Patrick Wolf said they’ll take cell phones, monitors, cables and gaming consoles, but no microwaves.

Best Buy is always recycling old appliances and electronics at its stores year round, but this week, it has brought back a popular trade-in offer in honor of Earth Week: Bring in any working electronic device and get a minimum $20 gift card. The minimum $20 gift card trade-in promotion runs through Saturday.

And anyone looking to unload something larger than a 32-inch TV can call Best Buy and arrange for them to come haul it away for free.

“Best Buy recycles up to 200,000 pounds of electronics a day, so we’re real big into trying to make the world better by staying green,” Wolf said.
