Rose River Farm in Madison County farm hosted wounded warriors Sunday for the eighth annual Healing Waters Two-Fly Tournament. The tournament offers disabled veterans the opportunity to learn how to fly fish.
Instructors say this is their way of giving back to those who served our country.
They say for veterans with injuries or post-traumatic stress disorder, fishing is one of the most relaxing and beneficial sports.
“Most of my profession is bringing enjoyment to people and this is bringing enjoyment, plus it’s got some healing powers, it really does and, to me it’s all what you can give back and we owe these guys everything,” said instructor Eric Stroup.
About 40 veterans attended Sunday’s event. Through company sponsorships and an auction, this tournament raised more than $200,000 for the National Healing Waters Organization.
